On September 27, the Academic Council of the Ukrainian Scientific and Methodical Centre of Applied Psychology and Social Work officially approved and recommended for publication “The CAMP+ Programme for Psychological Recovery of Families Affected by Military Operations in Ukraine”, developed by the psychologists of the Voices of Children Charitable Foundation.
CAMP+ is a free 21-day program in the Carpathians developed for families who have experienced severe psychological trauma due to the war: the loss of a loved one on the frontline or as a result of missile or artillery attacks; children with injuries; families dealing with ambiguous loss (missing persons, captivity); or those who have lost their homes permanently or were forcibly deported to Russia.
Participating families stay in homes in the mountains and take part in a structured rehabilitation program with professional support. The camp includes art therapy, gestalt therapy, and both group and individual consultations. Families enter a safe, supportive environment where they can begin to process emotions related to loss, uncertainty, and fear for their loved ones.
The Voices of Children Foundation organizes four camp sessions each year. Over the past two years, 239 children and 183 adults have participated in the CAMP+ program.
“The idea for CAMP+ was born in June 2022 as a response to the severe psychological and emotional conditions experienced by children and their parents—shock reactions, disorientation, and a deep sense of uncertainty. It is well known that a child’s mental well-being directly depends on their parents’ emotional stability. That’s why we decided to go beyond the existing psychological support in our six centers and online services—and create a program that could stabilize entire families,”
Following the three-week program, families continue to receive individual therapy sessions and attend group meetings.
The program was created by a team of Voices of Children psychologists who work directly with CAMP+ participants: Maryna Drobysheva, Roman Drobyshev, Olena Ivanova, Halyna Nomirovska, Oksana Pysareva, Svitlana Filippova, and Ruslana Moroz.
