1 червня — Міжнародний день захисту дітей. Повномасштабна війна в Україні триває вже третій рік, і кожна дитина потребує нашого захисту.

За цей час 75% дітей зазнали психічної травматизації через війну, а 40% — мають труднощі з доступом до освіти.

У травні російські війська активізували свою діяльність на Сході та Півночі України, відновивши наступ у Харківській області та посиливши ракетні обстріли в Сумській. Російські війська перебувають усього за 30 кілометрів від Харкова, унаслідок цього тривоги в травні тривали майже 13 днів.

У дітей зросла тривожність, вони потребують постійної стабілізації через часті обстріли,
каже Альона Чирик, регіональна координаторка «Голосів дітей» по Східному напрямку.

Понад 9300 людей, зокрема 800 дітей, евакуювалися з Харківщини, а 6527 людей, з яких 1056 дітей, — з 5-кілометрової зони на Сумщині.

Люди масово виїжджають із прикордонних населених пунктів. Вони пережили одну окупацію росіян у 2022 році і більше не хочуть туди ніколи,
— коментує Азад Сафаров, співзасновник «Голосів дітей», що повернувся з відрядження на Харківщині.

“I drew you and your whole team. You all have big eyes because there’s kindness in them,” said a girl who attends activities at the Foundation’s center in Kropyvnytskyi. This summer, our kind-eyed team heldactivities at the centers and also traveled to local communities, libraries, shelters, and underground schools. Cooking Dinner Without Electricity: How We Supported Families Remaining in Frontline Kherson

In Kherson, the day often begins with a single question, “Will there be electricity today?” The answer determines whether a child will be able to finish their homework, whether parents can heat up dinner, and whether there’s enough battery left on a phone to call loved ones. The city continues to endure daily shelling, which has, tragically, become part of everyday life. To help ease the daily challenges faced by families in the frontline Kherson region, the Kherson NGO “Journalists’ Association ‘AlternatyvA’” implemented the project “Rapid Winter Response for Ukrainian Children and Families” with the support of the Voices of Children Foundation and funding from ERIKS.

What Happens to Ukrainian Children After Returning from Russian Occupation: A Voices of Children Analytical Study

Nearly 600,000 children living in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine attend schools that have been fully converted to the Russian education system (according to the Centre for Civic Education “Almenda”). Overall, as of October 2024, around 1.6 million Ukrainian children aged 0–18 remained in temporarily occupied territories. The Voices of Children Foundation conducted the analytical study “Returning Childhood: Psychological Support for Children on Their Path to Reintegration” to better understand what families face after returning from Russian occupation.
