An Exhibition Titled “War Through the Voices of Children” Opened in Poltava, Accompanied by a Music-and-Dance Event for Teenagers

On November 20, World Children’s Day, the Voices of Children Foundation organized the exhibition “War Through the Voices of Children” and a music-and-dance event at the Lystopad Palace of Leisure in Poltava. The exhibition features artworks created by children who have lived through the experience of war. These were made during the Foundation’s psychosocial and creative sessions.
The exhibition “War Through the Voices of Children” shows how the thoughts and experiences of Ukrainian children convey the truth about the war to the world. Each work is a testament to how children see and feel the reality around them. Designers, artists, photographers, and illustrators contributed to the exhibition, including Nikita Titov, Serhii Maidukov, Oleksandr Hrekhov, and Iryna Vale.

It is important for us that children who have experienced the war feel supported and are able to express their emotions freely through creativity, music, and togetherness. In Poltava, we will present the voices of children in the way they themselves want to be heard. On World Children’s Day, we remind everyone: every child has the right to safety, development, and a future without fear,
said Azad Safarov, co-founder of the Foundation.
We also believe that cultural and artistic activities help children feel a sense of belonging to a community, strengthen their psychosocial resilience, and create space for emotional expression. That is why, alongside the opening of the exhibition, our friends from the folk band ShchukaRyba held a music-and-dance event for teenagers. Children learned carols and took part in the traditional koza performance, immersing themselves in Ukrainian traditions.
The event in Poltava marked the first step in a broader cooperation with the Poltava City Council, with whom Voices of Children recently signed a memorandum of cooperation, indicating that much work lies ahead. The Foundation has long planned to strengthen its support for children in the Poltava region, and now the team will focus on what children truly need: support groups, training for teachers and social workers, and the prevention of bullying and violence in schools.

“Artur”: A Film About a Writer Who Gave Kindness a Voice
Three years ago, Artur Dron—a poet and veteran—created an Excel spreadsheet on his computer and called it “The Literary Million.” That was the amount, in hryvnias, he dreamed of raising to support children through our Foundation. Eventually, the file had to be renamed: the number in it was growing faster than the title could keep up with the story.
25,000 Stories of Support Through Teenagers’ Eyes: Annual Report of Voices of Children for 2025
For Voices of Children, every annual report is an opportunity to look back, take stock of what we have achieved, and thank everyone who has stood alongside children. That is how the Foundation’s Chair of the Board, Olena Rozvadovska, describes the purpose of these pages. The 2025 report was created together with teenagers who took part in our art labs. They conducted real interviews with the Foundation’s team members, asking about their daily work, challenges, and what inspires them.
“I’m Falling Apart Emotionally”: What Children and Parents Bring to Online Psychologists During Wartime
The Voices of Children Foundation’s online psychological support helpline receives requests every day from children and parents across Ukraine and abroad. Anxiety and sleep disorders, loss of appetite, self-harm, and burnout among mothers — chronic stress gradually wears down mental health. The first signs often appear through physical symptoms, leading families to seek help from pediatricians or gastroenterologists before realizing that the root cause may be psychological and emotional strain.
