Nomination for Oscar and the creation of a mobile application: Voices of Children January report

The Voices of Children Charitable Foundation continues to help families with children throughout Ukraine, providing them with humanitarian, psychological, rehabilitation and advocacy support.
So, as of January 2023, the organization has:
  • 53 professionals in the team;
  • 64 psychologists;
  • 720 volunteers who responded from all over the world;
  • 9 locations in Kyiv, Lviv, Truskavets, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Berehove, Kryvyi Rih, Kharkiv and Vysokyi, where our psychologists are constantly working;
  • 4 mobile teams of psychological assistance in the Kyiv and Mykolaiv regions;
  • 2700 children and parents to whom the foundation provided help and support.
In total, 2 329 000 hryvnas was spent on all programs this month.
This month we had great news — the film A House Made of Splinters, which was created with participation of the Voices of Children, has been nominated for an Oscar Award as the Best Documentary Feature! This is a film jointly produced by Ukraine, Denmark, Sweden and Finland directed by Simon Lereng Vilmont, which premiered at the 2022 Sundance festival. Azad Safarov, co-founder of the Foundation, became the line producer and second director of the film.
Besides, Voices of Children Charitable Foundation has participated in the creation of a free mobile application Nadiya (Hope) — a Quest for a Safer Place, which helps traumatized families regain strength to live a full life in difficult times. You can have fun in the bomb shelter, in the corridor, and just before going to bed. The game will teach you to calm down, be kind to yourself and others, have difficult conversations, and find hope even when it seems like there is none. You can download the application from the link.

That is how the Foundation’s Chair of the Board, Olena Rozvadovska, describes the purpose of these pages. The 2025 report was created together with teenagers who took part in our art labs. They conducted real interviews with the Foundation’s team members, asking about their daily work, challenges, and what inspires them.

“Even a Storm Can Be Beautiful”: Olena Rozvadovska and Azad Safarov on the Team, Creativity, and the Foundation’s Plans for 2026
Olena and Azad met in the east of Ukraine long before Russia’s full-scale invasion. Back then, he told her: “In five years, we’ll have a Foundation.” She didn’t believe him. Today, the Voices of Children team works across Ukraine, creates books that are later translated by HarperCollins, runs art labs in the mountains, and is preparing to open a large Childhood Center.
