Human rights activist Oleksandra Matviychuk transferred the entire amount of the Sakharov Prize to the Voices of Children Foundation

Oleksandra Matviichuk, a Ukrainian human rights activist, and head of the Center for Civil Liberties organization, which received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022, transferred more than 330,000 hryvnias (€8,333) to the "Voices of Children" charity fund for psychological assistance to children.

"We all know Oleksandra Matviychuk as a professional human rights activist, lawyer, speaker and head of the Centre for Civil Liberties. Last year, the organisation received the Nobel Prize, and Oleksandra herself received the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought from the European Parliament. "She decided to transfer all the money for the prize to the Voices of Children," said Azad Safarov, co-founder of the foundation.

The entire amount of 330,000 hryvnias will be used for psychological and psychosocial support for children affected by the war.

Currently, there are 13 branches of the Voices of Children across Ukraine, where families can get free individual or group counselling with a psychologist. The foundation also has an online support line at 0800210106. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the foundation has provided professional psychological support to more than 13,000 children.

The group at the foundation’s centre in Mykolaiv was already wrapping up when one of the girls asked if she could stay a little longer — she wanted to draw. The administrator came over to have a look at her work and saw a sad kitten, with two open hands above it bearing the words “Good Hands” and the Voices of Children logo. Voices Camp wraps up its summer season: 448 children attended camp in western Ukraine
