Gaining Insights from American Expertise and Sharing Our Own: The “Voices of Children” Foundation Participated in a Conference Hosted by the Society of Pediatric Psychology

On April 26th, the “Voices of Children” Foundation team presented at the annual conference hosted by the Society of Pediatric Psychology in New Orleans. The theme of the event was "What Next? The Future Path of Child Psychology".
Representatives from the organization, along with Lauren Potthoff and Rikard Wicksell from the European Paediatric Psychology Network, introduced a collaborative project — a series of webinars titled "Child Mental Health". From April to August 2023, over 500 people successfully completed these webinars and received participation certificates.
The “Voices of Children” and the European Paediatric Psychology Network plan to expand their cooperation in training and enhancing the skills of Ukrainian child psychologists and psychotherapists.

The psychological program of the “Voices of Children” attracts international experts

At the conference, the “Voices of Children” team discussed their work with families affected by the war. International experts were impressed with the comprehensive psychological services the Foundation provides and showed interest in further studying and analyzing them.
When we share our daily experiences, the conditions we work under, and what we have accomplished, our colleagues are often speechless. I am firmly convinced that we must speak at international platforms as those who make the impossible possible,
stated Olena Rozvadovska, the head of “Voices of Children”.

In addition to her, the Foundation was represented by child psychiatrist Natalia Masyak, project manager Alla Shyrshyna, online helpline manager Olha Mykytchyn, educational program coordinator Olha Chymbir, and partnership manager Sara Slimp.
It's worth mentioning that the “Voices of Children” team represented Ukraine at the conference, as they were the sole participants from our country.

Held Captive by Trauma: How Ukrainians’ Attitudes Toward Mental Health Have Changed
The changes brought by the war have affected everyone, yet society is adapting to them unevenly. A significant number of Ukrainians continue to live trapped in unresolved trauma, which destructively affects both physical health and social relationships. In this context, one of the most difficult challenges is overcoming the barriers that stand in the way of professional psychological support, which is especially common among older generations.
