Boston Retiree Makes Charity Skydive: Funds Will be Donated to "Voices of Children"

For the second year in a row, retiree Rick Green from Boston, UK, has been skydiving to raise money for the "Voices of Children" Charitable Foundation. Only this time the man will hand over £3000.

His family and friends also joined him.

Everyone was determined to do the skydive. We all think that bravery isn’t lack of fear, but the willingness to face your fears,
said Rick.

While some of the participants had jumped before, Vadym and Agnese were first-timers and felt nervous. Nevertheless, they were equally committed to participating in the initiative, due to their ties to Ukraine. Vadym’s mother is from Kyiv, and Agnese has a 14-year-old son with her Ukrainian ex-husband.

It took Agnese a while to stop shaking after landing, but she is proud of facing her fears and the whole team are very proud of her,
Rick shares.

Agnese’s son also plans to skydive when he turns 16.

“It distresses me that people are tiring of the war”

To support Ukrainian children during the war, Rick Green does not just skydive. Throughout the year, he has organized charity quizzes and dance evenings and even a raffle for a book of quotes "War Through the Voices of Children", to raise money for the charity. Thanks to his admirable efforts, Rick has already raised over 2,000 euros for "Voices of Children" in 2024.

It distresses me that people are tiring of the war when the people of Ukraine have no choice about their situation. This gives me the determination to work hard to help,
explained Rick.

He believes that those fortunate enough not to experience war should fully enjoy life but also help those who suffer from it.

Rick dreams for the war to end and Ukraine to become completely liberated. After that, he hopes to see the activities of “Voices of Children” firsthand.

I dream that some of my friends in "Voices of Children" will be able to come and join our skydive team, and we can share the experience together,
Rick concluded.

“Good Hands”: July Stories from the Voices of Children Foundation’s Centres

The group at the foundation’s centre in Mykolaiv was already wrapping up when one of the girls asked if she could stay a little longer — she wanted to draw. The administrator came over to have a look at her work and saw a sad kitten, with two open hands above it bearing the words “Good Hands” and the Voices of Children logo. The drawing had a story of its own: a kitten just like this one lives in the entrance hall of the girl’s block of flats, and she and her mum feed it and keep it warm as best they can. Voices Camp wraps up its summer season: 448 children attended camp in western Ukraine

The last buses will soon set off from the Carpathians for cities across the country. But shared group chats, camp photos, and promises to meet again will remain on the participants' phones. Voices Camp has completed its third consecutive season, with the support of and in partnership with the Olena Zelenska Foundation.
