Olena Rozvadovska Named One of Ukraine’s Top Women Leaders by Ukrainska Pravda

Olena Rozvadovska, co-founder of the Voices of Children Foundation, has been recognized among Ukraine's leading women as part of the "UP100. Power of Women" project by Ukrainska Pravda (an independent online media outlet in Ukraine).

This award honors Ukrainian women whose daily work unites people, inspires change, creates new opportunities, and drives the country forward. Olena's story is a testament to the extraordinary dedication that changes the lives of thousands of children affected by war.

From Volunteer Days to a Lifelong Mission

Before establishing the Foundation, Olena spent five years living in Sloviansk, fully dedicating herself to helping children.

When I first met her, she was driving a battered volunteer car, wearing second-hand clothes, and giving away her entire salary from journalism to help children. She lived and slept either in a church center for displaced people or in a shared volunteer apartment. I had no idea how she even survived, but she lived like this for five years in Sloviansk,

recalls Azad Safarov, co-founder of the Foundation and now Olena's husband.

Her strength and unwavering heart became the basis upon which Voices of Children was built in late 2019. Over the past five years, the Foundation has supported more than 100,000 Ukrainian children and parents, helping them cope with the psychological trauma of war.

Olena shies away from grand words about "saving lives."

She can be incredibly kind to children and extremely tough on adults when they mistreat them,

Her approach is simple—consistent everyday actions that restore faith in kindness. Ukrainska Pravda recognized this dedication, honoring Olena alongside other women—defenders, activists, scientists, business leaders, and cultural figures—whose efforts strengthen Ukraine.

“I drew you and your whole team. You all have big eyes because there’s kindness in them,” said a girl who attends activities at the Foundation’s center in Kropyvnytskyi. This summer, our kind-eyed team heldactivities at the centers and also traveled to local communities, libraries, shelters, and underground schools. In June, children painted sea pebbles and made wishes, watched thought-provoking animated films, learned how to tame the little monsters inside them, and made friendship bracelets.

Cooking Dinner Without Electricity: How We Supported Families Remaining in Frontline Kherson

In Kherson, the day often begins with a single question, “Will there be electricity today?” The answer determines whether a child will be able to finish their homework, whether parents can heat up dinner, and whether there’s enough battery left on a phone to call loved ones. The city continues to endure daily shelling, which has, tragically, become part of everyday life. To help ease the daily challenges faced by families in the frontline Kherson region, the Kherson NGO “Journalists’ Association ‘AlternatyvA’” implemented the project “Rapid Winter Response for Ukrainian Children and Families” with the support of the Voices of Children Foundation and funding from ERIKS.
