“I Want to Live in Lviv!”: The Story of Tetiana
This desire appeared after Tetiana moved from her hometown of Lysychansk. Before then, she had never been to Lviv—she had only heard about this beautiful city. Unfortunately, she came to know its warmth under tragic circumstances.
Like many people from the eastern part of Ukraine, Tetiana and her family had to escape to save their lives. The last straw was a shell that exploded in their yard.
In Lviv, Tetiana and other displaced families living in shelters supported by the Voices of Children Foundation receive help from our psychologists. Fear should never accompany children—they need to smile! That’s why we do everything possible to make sure no child in Ukraine is left alone with the trauma of war.
In Lviv, Tetiana has made new friends—children who, like her, had to leave their homes with their parents, as well as psychologists and animators who help both children and adults feel safe again.
Tetiana is delighted with Lviv: there’s a park nearby, playgrounds, and friends. And if it so happens that she stays here, we’re sure the City of the Lion [Lviv] will gladly offer her family a home—just as it now shelters thousands of others who need it.
