When Will We Return Home?

At kindergarten, Dima was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder—it’s challenging for him to communicate with other children.

His family first fled from Sloviansk to a safer village, and then to Kryvyi Rih.

With almost no driving experience, his mother got behind the wheel and drove her son to safety. His grandparents convinced her to leave Dima’s beloved cat behind. When they themselves evacuated later, they couldn’t take the cat either—it stayed alone in the village for a month.

When the cat finally reunited with him, Dima was overjoyed. He wants to come back home and deeply misses his favorite couch and his box of building blocks.
