Camp+: a psychological support program for defenders' families

We created Camp+ to support the families of Ukrainian defenders. 

Camp+ is a space for mothers and children who are living through one of the most difficult experiences of war—families of the fallen, the missing, and those held in captivity.

When your partner is at war and you are left to raise your children alone, anxiety weaves itself into every part of daily life. It is invisible, rarely spoken about, but always present. It is an experience that is hard to explain and even harder to endure alone.  

Camp+ is a space where you belong and you are understood without needing to explain a single word.

It is a place to release tension and find strength among others who truly understand. Supporting the defenders’ families is a vital part of the Voices of Children Foundation’s work. Through Camp+. we stand beside and support mothers and children whose experiences are often overlooked.  

How does Camp+ work? For 21 days, mothers and children live in a safe, nurturing environment, surrounded by support:

• Individual and group sessions with experienced psychologists
• Art therapy and body-based practices to reconnect mind and heart
• Spaces for quiet reflection, for play, for simply living without the pressure of survival

The end of camp is just the beginning of the healing journey. Afterward, mothers continue to meet with psychologists, deepen new friendships, and find solidarity within a growing community of others who understand their journey.

Camp+ was developed by leading psychologists from Voices of Children. In 2023, it was approved at the national level as an official methodological recommendation for working with families affected by war, loss, trauma, and displacement.

Our goal is to raise $58,000 to fund Camp+ for 16 families.

Each session welcomes 16 mothers and 22 children. In 2025, with your help, we hope to support approximately 64 adults and 88 children through this life-changing program.
