On 14 October, a branch of the Voices of Children Foundation was opened in Mykolaiv. The grand opening took place on World Mental Health Day. About 80 children and parents visited the branch.
Since September last year, a mobile team of psychologists from the Voices of Children Foundation has been working in Mykolaiv. And in the spring of 2023, Mykolaiv got its own space where children and parents can come.
"This is not the first time I've come to the branch. In the classes, we are helped to deal with our emotions and feelings. Today we drew, made a collage, and talked about what helps us calm down," shares her impressions Maria, a 13-year-old participant.
The specialists of the Mykolaiv branch held various art therapy workshops for children and parents to help them understand their emotions and other people. For teenagers, they held a training with elements of art therapy, and for parents, they held workshops on mandalotherapy and body practices.
"So many people came to the opening that we had to look for chairs to seat everyone. I am pleased with the professionalism of our specialists: they were very flexible in their approach to certain challenges and tried to make sure that no participant was left without attention," says Ruslana Moroz, head of the psychological programme of the southern region of the Voices of Children Foundation.
The team of the branch consists of 14 specialists, including 8 psychologists. They conduct classes both at the location and on site in the de-occupied communities. Psychologists also conduct trainings for teachers.
