More than 1,000 children in the Kharkiv region who lost their homes and were forced to move due to the war now have the opportunity to spend time in resource rooms and feel more comfortable in a shelter during air raid alerts.
The premises were equipped thanks to the help of the «Voices of Children» Foundation's partners, ClearWater International Corporation. About 1 million UAH was allocated to repair resource rooms and shelters in the Kharkiv region.
"The Kharkiv region has suffered greatly as a result of the occupation. And even after the de-occupation, Russia continues to shell the region. As a result, the region's infrastructure is being destroyed. The part of the Kharkiv region that was not occupied hosts a large number of IDPs. For example, in the village of Hontiv Yar, there were 79 school-age children before the invasion, and now, due to the full-scale invasion, there are twice as many. Therefore, taking into account all these factors, the Voices of Children Foundation decided to set up resource rooms for children and shelters in the Kharkiv region," says Alla Shyrshyna, Head of Humanitarian Department at the Voices of Children Foundation.
The shelter has everything you need to stay in it during air raids. The resource rooms are equipped with things that delight children - a dry pool, beanbags, children's upholstered furniture, a tepee, a wall bars, etc. One of the resource rooms of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University dormitory is equipped for group and individual work with psychologists. Children can also get tablets with Internet access and study here.
The Voices of Children Charitable Foundation provides psychological assistance and individual humanitarian support to families, and works with communities and institutions for children across the country. Since 2015, the foundation's team has been working as volunteers and providing psychological assistance to children who have lived through the experience of war.
