The “Voices of Children” Foundation contributes to the revival of deoccupied Trostianets in Sumy oblast (region). On March 12, a new space for children and youth was opened at the Municipal Public Library.
It is essential to experience joy and positive emotions even during times of destruction. We are thrilled that the Trostianets community now offers more opportunities for children,

The Foundation not only has built a new room but also renovated two others. This involved cladding walls, ceilings, and floors, replacing all engineering networks, installation of a restroom, furnishing the space with furniture, board games, and a coffee machine.
The Library as a Community Center
For more than a month, Trostianets was occupied by the Russian troops. When the town was liberated on March 26, 2022, the first place people went was to the library.
They came not just for books, but for psychological support. We, the librarians, did what we could: we talked to them as fellow humans and simply listened,
shared Liudmyla Yefremova, director of the Trostianets Public Library.

Children and young people, deprived of regular social interaction and leisure activities, needed the most attention. Therefore, a Center for Non-Formal Education was established at the library, offering courses in web design and 3D modeling, discussion clubs in Polish and English, a documentary film club focusing on human rights, and more.
Moreover, children themselves take the lead in organizing events covering a wide range of interests. The Children's Advisory Council actively participates in community activities.
Not by Library Alone
In Trostianets, the "Voices of Children" Foundation has also refurbished shelters and acquired multimedia equipment for General Education School No. 5. This ensures that children not only have a place of refuge from the threat of the Russian shelling but can also continue their studies there.
In addition, the Foundation provided furniture and equipment for the recreation room at School No. 2., where psychologists are conducting group classes for children.
As for the “Palace of Children and Youth”, the Foundation purchased camping equipment and two plasma TVs. This extracurricular educational institution was seriously damaged during the Russian occupation: the enemy destroyed or damaged the items they couldn’t steal. But now, the children can resume their beloved activities.
And the "Voices of Children" Foundation continues to work to ensure that Ukrainian children can smile despite the war.
