During the past year, 679 children and 419 adults from vulnerable families in Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions have received expert psychological support and experienced better well-being.
These are the results of the year-long project "Protection and Financial Aid for Children and Their Families in Kharkiv and Mykolaiv Regions", implemented by the "Voices of Children" Сharitable Foundation in collaboration with "ChildFund Deutschland", and funded by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
902 beneficiaries received individualized, comprehensive social support through case management. This approach ensured that vulnerable families with children from local communities, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and those returning from temporarily occupied territories were guided by a specialist or a team of specialists to address a range of issues.
The project also provided psychological assistance to children and their parents or caregivers. Socially vulnerable groups were supported through group sessions and individual consultations.
In addition, the Foundation conducted psycho-educational activities among partners who provide social services to these individuals, and implemented public information campaigns to raise awareness. The Foundation also held training sessions for government partners, the civil society organizations, and project case managers to help them better provide social services to families with children affected by the war. 71 child protection professionals improved their professional knowledge and skills.
Coordinators, psychologists, recreation specialists, and case managers worked on implementing these tasks in the Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions. Social services for families were delivered through the Foundation’s regional Centers partner locations (such as dormitories for internally displaced persons), and on-site visits to communities in these regions.
During a monitoring visit, a representative of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) highly praised the professionalism of "Voices of Children" professionals. Despite the unstable security situation, blackouts, and complex requests, they ensured the accessibility and continuity of social services for families.
The Foundation is actively working towards becoming a permanent implementing partner of OCHA to continue collaborating on impactful projects.
After a year of operation, the second "Voices of Children" Center in Kharkiv will be merged with the first one. The Vysokyi Center in the Kharkiv region and the Center in Mykolaiv will continue to operate.
